Art & Animation in 2D and 3D
Whether it be for games or film, animation is my passion. Currently, I'm a Tracking Artist at Branch VFX, based in Albany New York. I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2018, dual majoring in Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences/Electronic Arts (with an Animation/Visual Arts concentration). Studying art at a tech school has made me realize that not only is animation an art, it is also a science which requires dedication, creativity, determination, and a willingness to try anything. My biggest passions are working on Doggo Unleashed! as an artist/composer, and working on awesome visual effects for TV and film. My skill set includes proficiency in 3DEqualizer, Autodesk Maya, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, Substance Painter, Side FX Houdini, and programming in Python. I have modeled, rigged and animated characters for 3D games, as well as working on special effects/simulations with Houdini. Among other things, I have animated: flying pumpkins, tomatoes dancing to techno music, creepy cats, flying dogs, jumping dogs, squirrels, fist pumping college students, lasers, amoebas, jello explosions, and Rube Goldberg physics simulations.
My 2D Design skillset is founded from design basics learned in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I've worked on logo design and application iconography, following an iterative design process to bring to life the creative vision of The Daylighting Society. Not only this, but I have a passion for using traditional design principles with experimental medium such as newspaper collage. It's a challenge, but I find the results are interesting (plus who doesn't love throwing paint at stuff in the name of good design?) and strengthen my 2D design ability in other areas.
As if 2D and 3D art wasn't enough media, I also have a background in music composition and sound effect generation, using Audacity, Pro Tools First, and Musescore to create sound effects and music for games, along with the occasional ambient soundscape.
